Managing your drones

Managing your drones

Adding drones to your library is helpful for multiple reasons. It’ll give you a clear overview of which drones are present within the organization, provide clarity on drones due for maintenance, and enable you to track where each drone has flown, among other benefits. On this page, you will learn how to add new drones and how to edit existing ones.

1.1 Managing Your Drones

Before you start:
You’ll need access to the AirHub Drone Operations Center (DOC) and proper workspace permissions. Also, ensure your drone’s serial number and registration info are available, these are critical for tracking flights, logbooks, and maintenance.

1.3 Adding a New Drone

  1. Log in to the AirHub DOC.

  2. Select the correct workspace via the workspace switcher.

  3. Go to Assets in the left sidebar and expand it.

  4. Choose Drones.

  5. Click + New (or “New” / “New Drone”) in the header.

  6. Fill in required fields (e.g. name, serial number) and optional ones (manufacturer, model, firmware, weight, registration).

  7. Save. The drone is now in your asset library, ready for assignment to missions or flights.

1.4 Editing Drone Details

  1. In the Assets → Drones section, find the drone you want to edit.

  2. Open its detail page.

  3. Click the three-dots menu (⋮) in the upper right.

  4. Choose Edit.

  5. Update whatever fields you need (serial number, firmware, documentation, etc.). Ensure the serial number matches the physical drone to maintain correct flight log associations.

  6. Save changes.

1.5 Archiving a Drone

  1. Navigate to the Drones list under Assets → Drones.

  2. Select the drone you wish to archive.

  3. Click the three-dots menu in the upper right of the detail page.

  4. Choose Archive. This removes the drone from your active fleet list but preserves all historical data (flights, maintenance, logbook).

  1. Use the workspace switcher to select the Team Workspace you want the stream to go to.

  2. In the left sidebar, under Assets, expand and click Drones.

  3. Click the drone you want to stream from.

  4. Under its Info tab, find the Live Streaming section.

  5. Click the copy button to copy the RTMP link.

1.7 What Happens Next

  • After adding a drone, it becomes available for assignment in missions, flights, and scheduling.

  • Any edits or updates you make feed into the logbook, maintenance tracking, and stats.

  • Archived drones are hidden from your active lists but still tied to past operations, you can’t assign them to new flights.

  • With the RTMP link, you can use third-party apps or devices to livestream directly; the feed shows up in the selected team workspace.

1.8 Next Steps

  • Periodically review all drones to check for overdue maintenance or incidents; these affect airworthiness.

  • Ensure documentation (insurance, certificates) is up-to-date and attached to each drone in AirHub.

  • Train your team on which workspace and team to select when streaming to avoid misdirected feeds.

  • If you need to assign drones to specific teams for visibility/control, use “Assign Ownership of an Asset to a Team.” (This helps reduce clutter and restrict who can schedule or view each drone.)
