How to Read the Weather Advisories

Weather is one of the most important factors influencing the safety and success of any drone operation. A thorough pre-flight weather check is essential to ensure your drone can perform within its operational limits, maintain stability, and comply with aviation regulations. The AirHub weather tool provides detailed, location-specific forecasts to help you make informed go/no-go decisions.

Weather Advisories

1.1 Ground Control – Weather Advisories

Before you start:

The Weather Advisories feature in AirHub provides real-time and forecasted weather data to help pilots assess operational conditions before and during a mission. Weather information is essential for both flight safety and compliance, ensuring that missions are only executed under safe and acceptable conditions.

AirHub automatically retrieves and displays weather data for your mission area, covering the previous hour and forecasting the next four hours. This data is also automatically logged during each mission, creating a complete compliance record for future reference.

1.2 What Weather Advisories Include

Weather advisories in AirHub display detailed environmental information relevant to drone operations. Each parameter includes a coloured indicator dot that reflects the operational condition:

• 🟢 – Good conditions, suitable for flight.
• 🟠 – Caution, conditions may affect flight performance.
• 🔴 – Poor conditions, flight not recommended.

The weather panel includes:

• Temperature.
• Wind speed and direction (in degrees).
• Gust strength.
• Cloud coverage.
• Humidity.
• Precipitation.
• Pressure.
• Visibility.
• KP Index (GPS accuracy indicator).
• Sunrise and sunset times.
• Time remaining until sunset (visible in the Drone Operations Centre).

1.3 Viewing Weather Advisories in Ground Control

  1. Open the Ground Control app.

  2. Navigate to the Mission Overview or Mission Planner, or any map-view within the app.

  3. The Weather section is displayed within the mission view.

  4. Review each parameter and its coloured indicator to assess whether the conditions are suitable for flight.

  5. Weather data covers one hour of historical conditions and a four-hour forecast for the mission area.

1.4 Automatic Weather Logging for Compliance

AirHub automatically logs all weather data when a mission is executed. The recorded information includes:
• Temperature.
• Wind speed and direction (in degrees).
• Gust strength.
• Cloud coverage.
• Humidity.
• Precipitation.
• Pressure.
• Visibility.
• KP Index (GPS accuracy indicator).

This ensures that every mission includes a traceable weather record, supporting audit readiness and operational transparency.

1.5 Summary

The Weather Advisories feature in AirHub provides up-to-date and forecasted environmental data for every mission. With automatic logging, colour-coded risk levels, and real-time weather information, AirHub helps pilots plan safe and compliant drone operations in all conditions.

Tip: AirHub also supports imperial units for weather data. You can switch between metric and imperial measurements in your account preferences to match your preferred unit system.
