Flight advisories

1.1 Ground Control – Advisories

Before you start:

AirHub uses Advisories to help pilots make informed decisions about their flight operations. Advisories provide real-time and location-based information about potential risks, airspace restrictions, and environmental factors that could affect the safety or legality of your flight.

AirHub sources its advisories directly from Altitude Angel, a leading aviation data provider that aggregates official notices and airspace data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with aviation standards.

By reviewing advisories before and during a mission, you can ensure that your operations meet both legal and safety requirements.

1.2 What Advisories Are

Advisories in AirHub are automated alerts that inform you of relevant flight conditions or restrictions in your chosen area. They are generated based on your mission’s location, altitude, and operational parameters.

Typical advisory categories include:
Airspace restrictions such as controlled, prohibited, or restricted zones.
NOTAMs (Notices to Airmen), providing official notices about temporary or permanent flight limitations.
Airports and heliports, highlighting proximity to manned aviation infrastructure.
Ground hazards such as high buildings, power lines, or sensitive sites.

Each advisory provides a short description, category, and level of impact. This helps pilots quickly determine whether the advisory is informational, cautionary, or critical.

1.3 Advisories in the Drone Operations Centre (DOC)

When working from the Drone Operations Centre, advisories are also displayed in the Planning and Mission Overview sections.

In the DOC, you can:
• Review advisories affecting a planned mission before scheduling.
• View historical advisories linked to past missions for compliance documentation.
• Filter advisories by location, type, or mission to focus on relevant alerts.

This provides full situational awareness when managing multiple missions across different workspaces or teams.

1.4 How Advisories Affect Mission Planning

Advisories play a critical role in risk assessment and compliance management:
• If an advisory indicates restricted or prohibited airspace, the mission cannot be legally executed without the required permissions.
• Informational advisories help you identify potential hazards in the surrounding area.
• Reviewing advisories before flight helps prevent violations and ensures your operations meet national and local aviation regulations.

For complex environments or high-risk missions, advisories can be used alongside AirHub’s built-in checklists and mission states (such as In Review or Ready) to maintain safe and compliant workflows.

1.5 Benefits of Using Advisories

Using advisories within AirHub provides several advantages:
Safety: Identify potential hazards before flight.
Compliance: Stay aligned with airspace and aviation regulations.
Efficiency: Plan missions with full situational awareness.
Automation: Access real-time airspace data directly in your workspace without manual lookup.

Advisories are continuously updated through Altitude Angel’s live data feed, ensuring you always operate with the most recent information available.

1.6 Summary

Advisories in AirHub are an essential part of safe and compliant drone operations. By integrating Altitude Angel’s real-time data directly into both the Ground Control app and the Drone Operations Centre, AirHub gives pilots the insight they need to plan, assess, and execute missions confidently. Always review advisories before flying to ensure safe airspace usage and full compliance with aviation regulations.
