Location button explained

1.1 Ground Control and Drone Operations Centre – Location Button

Before you start:

The Location button in AirHub helps you quickly centre the map on your current position and, if required, enable Compass Mode to rotate the map according to your orientation. This feature is available in both the Ground Control app and the Drone Operations Centre (DOC) and enhances situational awareness during flight planning and execution.

The button is located in the lower right corner of the map view, just below the Weather Advisories button. The icon looks like a circle with small lines extending outward — similar to a target symbol.

When you open AirHub, the map initially displays a global view. By pressing the Location button, you can quickly zoom into your current position once your device or controller has obtained its location.

1.2 Using the Location Button

  1. Open the Ground Control app or Drone Operations Centre (DOC).

  2. Navigate to any Map View.

  3. Locate the Location button in the bottom right corner, below the Weather Advisories button.

  4. Press the button once to centre the map on your current position.
    • The icon changes from an empty circle to one with a dot in the centre, indicating that the map is now focused on your location.

  5. If your position does not appear immediately, wait a few minutes.
    • GPS detection speed depends on whether you are indoors or outdoors, as well as your device’s internet connection and satellite reception.

  6. Press the button again to activate Compass Mode.
    • In this mode, the map rotates automatically based on the direction your controller or device is facing.
    • Turning the controller or tablet changes the map orientation, giving a real-time view aligned with your heading.

You can toggle between the three modes by pressing the button repeatedly:
World view (default).
Centre on location (dot visible).
Compass mode (map rotates with your orientation).

1.3 Summary

The Location button in AirHub is available in both Ground Control and the Drone Operations Centre. It provides a simple way to locate yourself on the map and orient your view according to your heading. This ensures faster navigation, better situational awareness, and more efficient mission planning, whether in the field or at the control desk.
