Using Remote Controllers with the AirHub Platform
1.1 Overview
AirHub supports Android-based remote controllers used by professional drone operators. These controllers act as the central hub for mission execution, connecting directly to your drone, payload, and the AirHub ecosystem.
To ensure full functionality and compatibility, it is essential that you install the AirHub Ground Control app directly from our website, not from the Google Play Store. Play Store versions are not optimized for controller environments and may lack required permissions for telemetry, livestreaming, and mission synchronization.
1.2 Required App
You only need the AirHub Ground Control app installed on your controller.
This app allows you to:
Plan and execute missions
Log flights for compliance
Stream live video to your AirHub workspace
Access real-time telemetry
You can download the latest version directly from our official page:
www.airhub.app/download
After installation, make sure the app has the following permissions enabled:
Location access
Storage access
Camera and microphone (if livestreaming)
1.3 Installing the AirHub App on Your Controller
On your Android-based remote controller, open the browser.
Navigate to www.airhub.app/download.
Download the AirHub Ground Control installation file.
1.3.1 If the Download Button Does Not Appear
Some controllers use a simplified browser (often called Lightning Browser) that may not properly display the download button.
If this happens, you have two alternatives:
Option 1: Open the Chrome app on your controller and revisit www.airhub.app/download.
Option 2: Download the installation file on your computer and transfer it to the controller using a USB connection.
Once downloaded, open the installation file and follow the prompts.
If prompted, allow installations from unknown sources to complete setup.
After installation, the AirHub Ground Control icon will appear on your controller’s home screen.
1.4 Logging In and Setup
Open the AirHub Ground Control app.
Log in with your AirHub account credentials.
Verify that you have selected the correct workspace from the Workspace Switcher.
This ensures that telemetry, livestreams, and flight logs are assigned to the correct team or organization.
Connect your drone and confirm telemetry data appears in AirHub.
If you are using a DJI remote controller, you can connect it via the DJI Pilot 2 Cloud API for automatic synchronization. To learn more, see: Connecting AirHub with DJI Pilot 2 Cloud API.
1.5 Recommended Setup Practices
Use one controller per active flight to avoid telemetry conflicts.
Always install the controller app from www.airhub.app/download never from the Play Store.
Keep firmware and the app up to date by checking the AirHub website.
Verify workspace selection before flight, as it determines where telemetry and livestreams are sent.
Ensure an active internet connection (Wi-Fi or 4G/LTE) for livestreaming and synchronization.
1.6 Troubleshooting
If you encounter connection or data issues:
Confirm you’re logged in to the correct workspace.
Check that the app was installed from www.airhub.app/download.
Ensure the controller has a stable internet connection.
Restart both the controller and the AirHub Ground Control app.
For persistent issues, contact AirHub Support through the Help Center or your organization’s support channel.
