Map Styles
1.1 Drone Operations Center – Map Styles
Before you start:
AirHub allows you to adjust the map style to suit your operational environment, time of day, or visual preference. Selecting the right map style can improve visibility, enhance focus, and provide better context for mission planning.
Map styles are available in both the Drone Operations Centre (DOC) and the Ground Control app. Changing the map style only affects visual appearance and does not alter your mission data or overlays.
1.2 Available Map Styles
AirHub offers four map styles that can be switched at any time during mission planning or flight operations:
Light (also known as Light Grey or Day Mode)
• Optimised for daytime use and bright environments.
• Displays clean map details for high visibility of flight zones, icons, and boundaries.
• Ideal for planning missions indoors or on bright screens.Dark (also known as Dark Grey or Night Mode)
• Designed for low-light or night operations.
• Reduces glare and eye strain in darker settings.
• Commonly used in control rooms or field operations at night.Streets (also known as Default or Standard)
• The standard map view in AirHub.
• Shows road names, buildings, and boundaries for easy navigation.
• Best suited for urban environments and ground reference planning.Satellite (also known as Imagery or Hybrid)
• Displays real-world satellite imagery for detailed visual reference.
• Useful for terrain analysis, infrastructure inspections, and unfamiliar areas.
• Offers the most accurate environmental context for planning.
1.3 Changing the Map Style
Open the Drone Operations Center.
Navigate to any Map View.
In the lower right corner, locate the Map Style icon, which looks like three sheets stacked on top of each other.
Tap or click the icon to open the Map Style selector.
Choose between Light, Dark, Streets, or Satellite.
Your map will immediately update to the selected style. You can switch styles at any time without affecting any missions, overlays, or advisories.
1.4 When to Use Each Style
• Light: Best for general use and high-contrast visibility in bright conditions.
• Dark: Recommended for low-light or night operations.
• Streets: Ideal for city missions or where road and building detail is required.
• Satellite: Perfect for visual inspections or terrain-based planning.
Selecting the appropriate map style helps pilots maintain clarity and awareness under different operational conditions.
