How to: Add Custom Map Layers (KML, GeoJSON)

Custom map layers allow you to overlay your own geographical data directly onto the AirHub map. This is useful for visualizing key infrastructure like power lines, network coverage maps, project boundaries, restricted zones, or other points of interest relevant to your organization. AirHub supports both GeoJSON and KML file formats.

Uploading Custom Map Layers

1.1 Drone Operations Center – Custom Map Layers Overview

Custom map layers let you display your organisation’s own geospatial data—such as operational zones, infrastructure boundaries, or survey areas—directly within AirHub. These layers support GeoJSON and KML formats and are shared across your entire organisation for consistent mission planning and situational awareness.

1.2 Uploading a New Map Layer

Note: You must have administrative permissions within an organisational workspace to add custom map layers.

Follow these steps to upload a new layer:

  1. Ensure you have selected your Admin Workspace from the Workspace switcher at the top of the sidebar.

  2. Navigate to the Manage section in the sidebar.

  3. Click on the Organisation menu item.

  4. Select the Custom Map Layers tab.

  5. Click the + New button in the header.

  6. A file selection window will open. Locate the GeoJSON or KML file on your computer and select it.

  7. Click Open.

The file will be uploaded and processed automatically. Once complete, the layer will appear on the main map and become available for all members of your organisation to use in their planning and operational workflows.

1.3 Privacy of Your Map Layers

All custom map layers uploaded to AirHub are private and secure.
They are only visible to members of your organisational workspace and are never shared externally unless explicitly exported.

1.4 Customising Your Map Layer

Once your layer is uploaded, you can adjust its styling—such as line or fill colours—to make it stand out on the map.
