How to Add Custom Map Layers (KML, GeoJSON) in AirHub

Custom map layers allow you to overlay your own geographical data directly onto the AirHub map. This is useful for visualizing key infrastructure like power lines, network coverage maps, project boundaries, restricted zones, or other points of interest relevant to your organization. AirHub supports both GeoJSON and KML file formats.

1. Uploading a New Map Layer

Note: You must have administrative permissions within an organizational workspace to add custom map layers.

Follow these steps to add a custom map layer to your workspace:

  1. First, ensure you have selected your Admin Workspace from the Workspace switcher at the top of the sidebar.

  2. Navigate to the Manage section in the sidebar.

  3. Click on the Organization menu item.

  4. Select the Custom map layers tab.

  5. Click the + New button in the header.

  6. A file selection window will open. Navigate to the GeoJSON or KML file on your computer and select it.

  7. Click Open.

The file will be uploaded and processed. Once complete, the layer will be available on the main map for all members of your organization to use during planning and operations.

Privacy of Your Map Layers

It is important to note that any custom map layers you upload are private and secure. They are only visible to members within your organizational workspace.

Customizing Your Map Layer

Once your layer is uploaded, you can change the styling to make it stand out. You can read all about it in this article: Styling Custom Map Layers.
