Understanding Checklists in DOC
Before you start
Checklists in the AirHub DOC help ensure that every flight is carried out safely, consistently, and in full compliance with operational procedures. They serve as step-by-step guides for pilots and crew members to verify critical tasks before, during, and after each mission.
1.1 What Checklists Are Used For
Checklists provide a standardized way to document and verify essential actions during a drone operation.
They help pilots and organizations maintain operational discipline, reduce human error, and ensure compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.
In Ground Control, checklists can be used to:
Verify safety steps before takeoff (e.g., checking propellers, battery levels, GPS signal).
Record in-flight tasks and monitoring steps.
Confirm post-flight shutdown and inspection actions.
Provide traceable compliance documentation for audits or reporting.
Each checklist completion is stored automatically with the mission log, ensuring every operation is fully documented.
1.2 Types of Checklists
The AirHub platform supports several types of checklists, each designed for a specific phase of flight or maintenance process:
Pre-Flight Checklists – Used before the mission begins to confirm that the drone, batteries, payload, and environment are safe for flight.
In-Flight Checklists – Used during operations to ensure ongoing safety and performance monitoring.
Post-Flight Checklists – Completed after landing to confirm shutdown procedures, battery conditions, and post-flight inspections.
Maintenance Checklists – Used to guide technicians through periodic maintenance programs, ensuring no steps are missed.
1.3 Adding Checklists to The Mission
Checklists can be accessed directly within the mission interface:
Open the AirHub Drone Operation Center and start a new mission by pressing the + Create mission button in the upper-left corner.
Press Create Pilot Mission.
Scroll down and tap the Checklist drop-down menu in the Mission Editor
Select which assigned checklists (Pre-flight, In-flight, or Post-flight) will be displayed.
Press Start flight, and the checklists will be displayed when needed.
1.4 Using Checklists in DOC
Each checklist has its own place in time;
Pre-Flight is presented before a flight
In-Flight is presented In Flight
Post-Flight is presented after the flight.
When presented, go through each item and mark it as completed once verified.
When all items are checked, the checklist is automatically marked as completed for that phase.
Completed checklists are saved in the mission log, linked to the date.
1.5 Why Checklists Matter
Using checklists brings several operational benefits:
Consistency: Ensures every pilot follows the same procedures, regardless of experience level.
Safety: Helps identify potential issues before they become hazards.
Accountability: Stores all checklist completions for auditing and reporting.
Compliance: Provides verifiable records of operational discipline and adherence to standard operating procedures.
By following checklists within Ground Control, organizations can maintain safer, more reliable operations while meeting both internal and external compliance standards.
